I always thought Raya spirits are getting much faster and faster that the preparation started even 2 months before the fasting month. The first sign was when most of the tailors started to reject your request to make baju kurung for you.

So, this year like every year I will be selling Raya goodies. The only difference no more kuih raya, thought I can't really manage that since the work schedule is really very taxing. Hence, just kerepek for this year.

Anti ISA Protest Demo

Nope, I am not gonna start to blog about politics, nor am I gonna tell you which side I am on.

As being portrayed in most of the newspaper, much spoke about in the TV news as well as as the coffee shop talk, the demonstration in KL went on. My opinion on this is - I don't I have the right to have an opinion. None of my family members have been ISA'ed hence I would be able to feel the pain and suffering that those whose loved ones have been detained without hearings. My dad has always been around compared to those kids whose father was not there to attend to them through their joy and pain. And I was really kind of upset while watching the news last night about this pakcik who complained he was stuck in the shopping for 2 hours and of course those traders who claimed they have experienced a loss due to this scene. Why don't we stop and think the feelings of those directly effected by ISA and how many years they have been stuck in detention and the loss of income while they are being detained. You do the maths. Those ladies must be happy to know they are not alone and they are alot others who is feeling their pain. Hence, I don't think I have any opinion as I don't have the right to have an opinion.

Anyway, feeling this, made me appreciate my family more and one person who I always looked up to is my mom in law. She is one tough woman and have been through many things in life. She still managed to smile though her heart is aching inside. And one of her strength is in business. She has this small boutique which she started several years ago and every time we come back to kampung, it seems getting bigger. Her customer based have been increasing so do her collections. In fact, I am one of her loyal customers.

She inspired me to be a better mother, wife and Insyallah, a good business women.

Sabar yer, the first part of the kuih has arrived and will be delivered to you before 26th Sept. This is just small part of the first part. More will be sent on daily basis by the supplier.

As for kerepek, it will arrive in one lump sum on Sunday. It will also be sent to you also before the 26th Sept. Nanti kita calling2 yer...

Kurma@Ramadhan

Whenever Ramadhan arrives, kurma will be one of the things that Muslims will look for. It's the same case for us. I am not a big fan of kurma(not only that, I don't like sweet things including chocolate) but my better half is a kurma junkie. He loves kurma and will not start the iftar without having kurma first. This interests also shared by my parents and in-laws.

Usually, I will purchase kurma from my frequent supplier, a colleague of mine. Usually the half month supply for my 2 families. Why half month? Cause every year without fail, we will receive some from friends and business acquintance.

This year is no different, we received 2 about 2 days before Ramadhan starts.

And every year, there will always be some balance of the kurma which I will then add as one of the ingredients for my Raya cookies.

Cantik kan? Very the creative. Nie satu business idea yg bagus. Shall we try this next year...

I have been doing this Kuih Raya business for the past 4 years and this year I planned to continue with it.

And of course, I am not the one making the kuih, it's done by a friend of mine.

The price is the same for every kuih, RM20 for 50 pieces and RM35 for 100 pieces(in one container). Delivery within Klang Valley is FOC for orders above RM100. And I also have kerepek for hari raya ; Ubi Masin, Ubi Pedas Basah, Ubi Pedas Kering, Bawang, Pisang Tanduk and Mini Rempeyek. All selling at RM8 for 500 gram except for Mini Rempeyek selling at RM12 for 500 gram.

My better half came back from work yesterday and told me he is going out later tonite to his friend's house to look at some kain ela that just arrived from Indonesia. Nak meniaga kain rupanya...

Anyway, being a supportive wife as I always am, here goes...

The kain ela comes together with selendang.

This time around he only took about 10, nak test market dulu...

The business

For those who are close to may know that me and my better half have been doing this small catering business. We have been doing this for the past 3 years. So far, we have cooked and sometimes organised close to 300 events. I guess we share the same passion, we love to cook and love
to organise events. We've organised from birthday parties to kenduri akad nikah. Haven't organise a wedding yet, insyaallah if given an opportunity, would love to venture into that. Our
satisfaction is when we see smiles
on our clients faces.
This Raya is a busy season for us. Like today for example, we have to deliver food to 3 houses. This weekend another 5.
Our sincere hope that this will expand further....working with passion makes it more fun for both of us...
