Buka Puasa @ Seri Melayu

Another long overdue entry, this time was a session where we had buka puasa @ Seri Melayu. The girls and I considered this as a girls night out after a long day at work.

We choose Seri Melayu because...

We voted(actually Maryam forced us to vote and she lobbied for Seri Melayu as well) and Seri Melayu was the chosen venue.
We arrived earlier and managed to go to Pavillion for some shopping action. Maryam got herself a pair of shoes while Salwa got 2! Sungguh sakan!

The food there was great. A lot of varieties and they were doing this stalls concept. Mostly are typical Malay food with combination of some western delicacies however, the taste was excellent!

What I had :

The western food - grilled lamb and chicken with salad

Sate - this is a must!

Some nasi kuning, this was served in a lamb's stomach, very unique, this was accompanied by some lauk. And of course the sup tulang rawan, you must try this if you get the chance.

That nite was also the nite Nadia shared with us her getting engaged experience which was so sweet!!! While the ladies listened attentively and shared their happiness.

What's special here is while having our iftar, we were entertained by cultural shows performed by the dancers.
We could have eaten more, if only we did not laugh so much!

Girls night out, best!!!!

After long silence, I am tempting you with what we cooked throughout Ramadhan

After long silence, I am blogging from Putrajaya while waiting for the afternoon session of this programme. Yup, still working despite Raya is just few days away....Sedih...
Moving on...
Let me share what we cooked during this fasting month, some of the menu lah yer

One night was declared as Italian night, we cooked Pizza and Pasta. We even tried doing our own dough

Another nite was also declared as Western food night where we had fried chicken ala KFC, grilled burger and grilled lamb. We also had salad and soup.

There's one night where the house smelled like bakery. We baked few types of bread and alhamdulilah, it turned out well.

Another night, we cooked Char kuey teow, with additional ingredients like fish cakes, fish balls and lots of taugeh!!!!
And of course, my better half being a true Johorean, of couse want to have Johor style food and I cooked Lontong to satisfy his cravings. Accompanied with sambal sotong, sungguh lazat!!!
We did other dishes too, like Nasi Beriani, Nasi Minyak to name a few. But, laterlah, nanti ada yang nak buka pose azan zohor!!
Look out for more food entry ya!

Breakfast vs Iftar

I was fasting on last Monday, during the Maulidurrasul. Just a nazar that I have to fullfill. My better half was working hence I have to prepare food for the cuties.

My hero wanted to eat home cooked nasi lemak so I woke up early that morning to prepare this for him. Nasi lemak with ayam goreng, just like how he loves it.
While for iftar, I did not want to eat something heavy so I just prepared fried chicken coated with the KFR flour, accompanied with this meal were mashed potato, fries and potato salad all home made.

Alhamdulilah I have completed my nazar. But, I will continue to fast of Mondays and Thursdays Insyallah.

Iftar @ KFC @ BSP

I was craving for KFC for the past couple of days. But, eating this in the office macam tak best. cause I know the cuties would enjoy this more than I do. Since I was fasting yesterday, thought that would make a good iftar meal.
So, on our way home, we stopped by the KFC Drive Thru in Sg Besi which by the way is the most lembab drive through. Maybe they don't understand the drive thru concept. When people opt to use drive thru service means they are in a rush. Kalau tak, they all que and makan kat dalam jer....
We ordered the mini bucket(cause nak Hot Spicy gak), 3 pieces of chicken and the new meal introduced by KFC i.e. the chicken wings. Memang satisfying...
And as I mentioned earlier, the cuties enjoyed this more than I do...

Spaghetti Dinner

For those who are close to me would know I make it a point to fast every Mondays and Thursdays unless I can't due to various reason. Last Monday was another fasting day for me. And I have planned to cook spaghetti for iftar.
During lunch break, I went to Cold Storage to purchase the ingredients. Capsicum, button mushroom and the spaghetti were among the critical ingredients to make spaghetti.
We arrived at BSP around 6.50pm and I immediately started the cooking process. I only had a sip of drinks right after the azan maghrib.
The way I make spaghetti is not the typical one that you eat. I improvised to suit my taste as well as my family's appetite....
Spaghetti for iftar is simply amazing

The ideal iftar meal

I have made a nazar and Alhamdulilah, the wish came true. This wish was very crucial for my future career and it's that critical to the extend I have made this nazar.
And the nazar is to fast on Monday and Thursday for 2 weeks. And this started last Thursday.
My better half was kind enough to prepare a feast for my iftar. All are my favourite food. He cooked sup tulang with the sambal ikan bilis cili api. Really good, makan pulak dengan nasi panas.

And my mom knew I was fasting, she prepared sambal udang and tauge goreng.
3 more days to go to complete this nazar. Insyallah, it will be a breeze.

Lempeng lagik??

By now I think many would know how I love lempeng especially if it's being complimented by sardine or sambal tumis, marvelous!!

I was fasting yesterday. Around 5pm my better half called and asking what do I feel like having for iftar. And he was so surprised I wanted lempeng with sardine. He kept on asking me,"betul ke tak nak makan nasi?" I told him, it's not because I'm on diet, it's really because that's what I feel like having.
So, lempeng it is.
By the time we reached home, it was about 7.30pm. I only had few sips of water after azan maghrib. Again my better half asked me, tak nak makan nasi kat kedai ke? I know he is worried for me to have such light meal for iftar. Again, this is due to cravings, not so much about diet.

Once reach home, I told the cuties to bath and perform their maghrib prayers. While I was already in the kitchen cooking the iftar. I told my better half to bath and first. Once he is done, he took over the kitchen and it's my turn to get myself clean and pray.
Sedap giler tau lempeng and sardine. And it's so filling. If I have more time, I would have also prepare the sambal ikan bilis. Kalau ada lagik terangkat...Baby pulak prefer with sugar. Tak makan pedas.
And while typing this, I am already thinking what to cook for dinner tonite...any idea?

Pastries...and loads of this!

Last week, one of the days when I was fasting, we were stuck in this bad traffic. We left from KJ quite early but there was an accident at the Serdang Exit and they had to close it. Hence, that created quite a stir and causing bad traffic. This of course effected us directly though our exit is at BBB.
Alhamdulilah, Allah has always been kind to his servant. Just when this happen, coincedently, earlier that day, I received this box of pastries. This was given by Sheraton Hotel is Subang. So, when the azan magrib was on, after a sip of drink, I had a small doughnut for my iftar.

For those who don't know me, you may want to know I am not really into pastries, as well as, sweet stuff. That would include chocolates and makanan2 yg lain yg sewaktu dengannyer....So end up, my better half and the cuties were the ones finishing the whole box of this pastries.

Not eating all this sweet stuff, but still, I am fat....And I can't help but to wonder....
(dalam hati, yg manis memang tak makan, yg berlemak tu apa criter? lagi mau heran kan?)

The simplest iftar

Alhamdulilah, I completed my 2 days fasting for Asyura last Wednesday and Thursday. It was qite tiring though, just started working and started working with fasting. However, I decided to proceed, yelah, Hari Asyura is just once a year. Don't want to wait for another year before getting the chance to fast during Hari Asyura.
What is Hari Asyura?

Got this info while doing some googling.

There you go!

And for the first day of fasting, my better half suggested for us to have dinner outside, he said I will be too tired to cook. But, I don't like having dinner outside. I would prefer once we reach home I can cook then I can bath and just have a drink after azan, perform my prayer and then have dinner with the cuties. I think it's more relaxing that way.
So, wanted to make it simple and at the same time, eating what I love.

This is sambal ikan bilis with cilipadi. All the ingredients are grind with lesung batu. Once that is done, must tumbuk hancuq2 no...Then, fry and ready to be eaten.

This goes very well with telur mata kerbau with kicap and chopped onions. Eaten with hot rice, memang terangkat.

My mom knew I was fasting so she also cooked masak lemak ayam for me to bring home. Jangan lupa goreng ikan masin yer puan2...Very the delicious one!

This is much better than eating out, jimat pun jimat kan!

IKEA, here we come!!!

We have planned for this trip for the past 2 weeks, marking what to buy in the on-line catalogue since we misplaced the one we received earlier.

Important things to buy :

1. Chest drawer(ke drawer chest) one each for the cuties.
2. The bar stool for the kitchen
3. Photo frames
4. Chairs for the dining table
5. Some accesories for the house
6. Mirrors for the bathrooms
7. Mirror for the cuties rooms

We arrived at 6.15pm so we decided to look for the place to have our Iftar first. My baby wanted to have A&W so A&W it is.

After maghrib prayers, our journey begin.

From one area to another, I just love coming to IKEA. If I have the money, everything in the house would come from IKEA and IKEA only...YOU WISH!!!

We got all the items that we were looking for except for the chairs for the dining table. It's quite costly there, so maybe we'll just purchase the one from Cavenzi. Some of the items couldn't fit the car so it will be sent to our house later. The que to pay was very long but the wait was not that long. I guess IKEA staff is very efficient.
Before we left IKEA, my better half dropped by ACE Hardware at Ikano to purchase the power drill for us to hang frames and other hangable stuff.

We left IKEA at 10pm, and the cuties were exhausted and thirsty. Now, to unpack the things that we buy...penatnyer....

Skuad Era Avanza

Yesterday, we had our division buka puasa session at Bora Ombak, Ampang. The traffic was horrible...jem giler...at the fact that we used the elevated highway, we were still stuck right after we exit the highway...

At the entrance of Bora Ombak, we heard a vehicle blasting loud music and there's a lot of people gathering around the vehicle. And that's when we found out it was Skuad Era Avanza. I've met them before and got alot of free gifts during my last encounter with them so I persuaded the rest of my colleagues to join in.
We were asked to answer some simple and a no brainer question to win the prizes. But, honestly, the prizes were not that attractive but it's free anyway so, I did not decline to receive it.
5 of us also won the buka puasa buffet at Bora Ombak which we declined to accept since we are having our onw buka puasa buffet at the same location. Lain kali lah yer, we cannot ditched our workmate.....

The prizes that I've won...
But, honestly, the Skuad Era Avanza is not as happening as the previous Skuad Perodua. There's this one guy with funny haircut, apa ntah nama dia, was quite sarcastic and get annoyed easily. His jokes were not funny, at least not to us.

No wonder I listen to hotfm and flyfm nowadays....

Happy Birthday Dear Brother

Yesterday for iftar we celebrated Iwan's birthday. For those who don't know who's Iwan, he is my youngest brother. He is also a frequent reader of this blog - he better be otherwise banyak allocation will be revoked...muahahaha!!!
My dad will only cook for special occassion and yesterday for some reason was considered to be one. My dad's speciality among others are Nasi Ayam and Ikan Bawal Sweet and Sour and he cooked both yesterday.
We arrived just a few minutes after the azan maghrib. As usual, traffic was a hell!!!!
When we arrived, the cuties and the rest were already eating. So, we grab a plate each since tengah lapo giler and the food was so very tempting...
After the delicious meal, it's the cake cutting ceremony, chewah! My baby sang the loudest and ignored her Pak Usu's remark about her vouce...Pak Usu cakap pitching larilah!!!
And my hero prepared a card for his Pak Usu. Though Pak Usu make fun of the card cause Pak Usu was spelled PAKUSU, my hero is so used to this kind of teasing and replied, itupun untung abang buat card untuk Pak Usu tau!!! Ha...kena sejibik...
I was so full after that but cannot rest, cause last night was the sending of all the kuih ordered. We completed the whole process at 1am!!! For those who supported the business, thank you so much for purchasing the kuih muih. Insyallah, if everything goes well, next year we shall continue with the business.
Argh!!! Ngantuk!!! But rezeki hari raya kan, so I am so thankful for it...

Iftar anywhere

For the past 2 weeks, there were few occassions where the cuties, me and my better half had our iftar in the car. Reason being ; there were days that we need to go back to BSP and can only start to travel once baby is back from school. Then, my better half would pick me up at KL and straight to BSP. Usually, about 5km towards reaching home, the azan magrib will be heard over the radio.
Since I finish work quite early, I will proceed to the food outlet in KLCC in search of food for iftar.
Yesterday, I got them 2 pack of chicken rice, pizza, nasi lemak bungkus, A&W fried chicken and some kuih. Alhamdulilah, the cuties are not that particular about food. I did ask them if they would prefer to have their iftar with their Wan and spend the nite there. They refused to that suggestion and would prefer to have iftar with Papa and Mama eventhough the iftar can be categorised as Iftar the kelam kabut style...So sweet of the cuties...As long as we are all together, susah senang bersama...Chewah!!
