Fun Time @ Sushi King

I haven't been spending much time with the cuties for the past 2 weeks. Again, work what comes between us. I am beginning to wonder whether is this what I want in life and this could be the best time for me to do some self reflection - muhasabah diri - me as a mother & wife.....

Last nite, I thought we go out for dinner. Otherwise they have to wait for me to cook and there goes more quality time down the drain. At least, when we eat out, we can talk on the way to the makan place and later over dinner.

We went to Alamanda to have sushi!! I have had sushi in many place but I still prefer the one served by Sushi King, maybe my tekak is the cheap tekak kan?
My usual appetizer, the fish roe is a must!
The cuties, all happy and smiling...especially baby, who has just recovered from fever.

The tempura we ordered.

The plates accumulated, what we had that nite....

I love my family more than everything and I have to start thinking (and think real hard) on what do I expect in life....Ya Allah, please show me the way....
Having said that, Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan Al-Mubarak! Excited nie nak gi terawih with my better half and the cuties!

Kentucky Fried Chicken - My saviour!

One thing about malay culture, they felt they should not inform when they want to drop by friends or relatives houses as they don't want to inconvenient them to prepare food or snacks for the guest. Truth to be told ; as the host, I don't really like surprise visits. I would prefer to be given at least a day notice so that I can make sure the house is clean and I have food to serve the guest. I feel real bad if guests start coming to my house with nothing to eat and house is a mess.

That's what happened last Friday. My brother who lives in Melaka and now working in Kuantan pending his transfer approval back to Melaka wanted to drop by my house before making the journey to my parents house. I got to know about this at 4pm when he text me while I was in a meeting. Akak apa lagi, ribut huru hara and stepped out from office to get some snacks at Cold Storage. Since I only had one hour lunch break compared to 2.5 entitled hours, to go down for 15 minutes, made the guilt go away.

And on the way back, dropped by KFC drive throught at Sungei Besi to buy the family combo enough to cater for the crowd.
My brother has four kids though he got married much later than I did. His eldest daughter is the same age as my youngest aka my baby.
It was really a fun feast despite the last minute arrangement. Food was enough to feed everyone and the kids were happy.
Moral of the story - if you want to drop by your friends or relatives, bagi ler notice. Kesian kat tuan rumah, ribut nak prepare segala bagai. And look at the positive, Insyaallah, you will get better food..........

The night @ Pasar Malam BSP

Where we live, the pasar malam happened twice a week, i.e. every Tuesday and Saturday nite. We would usually bring the cuties for the Saturday nite pasar malam since we don't usually take them out during school night.
This pasar malam is very interesting and you can get almost everything here. We cook twice everyday for dinner and lunch(when the cuties come back from school) hence the need to top us stuff in the fridge is very important.
The usual purchase ; fishes dan sewaktu dengannyer and chicken. Cheaper and fresher than buying this at hypermarket.
We sometimes have dinner there. My princess loves the yong tau foo while my better half would always go for the mee hoon soup ala bakso. As for the 2 smaller ones, their appetite differs, sometimes burger, fried chicken or even pizza. We usually have this there, right at the stall. Ambiance is very Malaysian.
Pasar Malam has always been a Malaysian thing ever since I can remember. Been wanting to try the Pasar Malam in BBB. Readers there, comment ler the suasan of pasar malam there.

Hancussssss dietku kerana Hari Bapa!!!!

We celebrate Father’s Day every year. It may not be a lavish and expensive celebration, but I always make it a point for the cuties to celebrate this day so that when they are all grown up they will value this kind of celebration and feel it’s a must to come back home.
For this year, we took my better half for a Nasi Kandar trip @ BBB. I forgotlah the name of the outlet. We have been here few times but nama akak tak ingat.
This trip was not good for me. I couldn’t fight my temptation to have Nasi Kandar though I know the clock showed it’s 10.30pm. Giler ko makan nasi memalam. But, the curry and the hot rice were so tempting that I fell for this.
We talked and share jokes and of course teka teki. Most of all we enjoyed each other company’s.
Of course, we enjoyed the food, but guilt feeling was soon came out for having such a heavy meal. Takpelah, Father’s Day punyer pasal, belasah ajerlah!

Accidental Dinner

I am still trying to figure out why the traffic was super bad this evening. It was bad in the afternoon during lunch and I was told it may be caused by this charity event organised by Cartier where all the attendees are supposedly the rich and famous community. But, when my better half came and pick me up from work and the traffic was getting worse, I was silently cursing if it's because of this rich people again, can't the flaunt their wealth else where and let us go home.

From the lobby where my better half pick me up, after 20 minutes, the car only moved about 10 meters. We felt it's better for us to park our car, have a good dinner then go home once the traffic gets better. Otherwise, we will be stuck in the traffic and feeling hungry!

I asked the cuties what they feel like having and they unanimously wanted to have Pizza Hut, so Pizza Hut that is.

We ordered the package meal where they have the soup accompanied with the garlic bread, pizza and pasta as well as soft drinks. I did eat anything cause I had a good lunch at a new place, which I will reveal later in this blog. Under the diet program, you are not supposed to have dinner after 7 yer adik2......

If not because of the traffic, we would be enjoying dinner at home but we were at Pizza Hut instead. The cuties was enjoying this but to me, there's nothing like eating home cook food at home.....

Sate Kajang vs Mee Bandung Muar

One thing about school holidays that I love would be the fact we can start our jalan2 cari makan session. We can travel a bit further from home on our hunt for the food we don't usually get to eat. This is because the cuties will not have to wake up early the next morning for school.

Last Monday, my better half suggested for us to have our dinner at Kajang, to have Sate Kajang to be exact. We always have our Sate at Sate Emas but we decided to try something else beside Sate and saw this stall which offer Mee Bandung as well. Sate YD gerai no 9 namanyer...

The waiting was killing us. Lama giler. We waited for nearly an hour before food was served. Tu baru sate nyer, the mee bandung came 15 minutes later. When the sate was about to finish the cuties were still hungry so we thought we want to order more sate. However, after waiting for another 15 minutes and satenyer tak kunjung tiba, we pay and left after that.

This is one good lesson to me should one day I decide to have my own business. Typically, those who owns tak kiralah food outlet or even small sundry shops don't even know how to smile. When customes walked in to the shop, this breed of people would give one look as if like the customer menyusahkan them. They should actually treat this as rezeki kan? Tak bersyukur langsung, orang tak datang sampai kedai tutup baru tau.

Having said that, lama dah dapur kat rumah tu tak berasap, asik makan luar jer......hhhhmmmmmmm......

Craving for sushi after layan lauk kenduri

For the past few days, we have been eating nothing but lauk kenduri. Dah jadik macam makanan ruji pulak. So, after maghrib prayers last Sunday, we made our way to Alamanda(mana lagik ler) as we wanted to have sushi for dinner.

We tried other sushi outlets before but we still come back to Sushi King to satisfy our cravings. Not only the sushi here is better but the price is also affordable.
The cuties love sushi as well. They would usually choose the one on the conveyor belt while my better half prefer the tempura. We were so hungry that we forgot to take the picture of the tempura.
While typing this, the craving for sushi suddenly arise again....Hmmm, nak pegi ke tak nak kan?

And why did I wait for supper...

To have this...........
Nasi Lemak Jalan 222 is simply the best!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks sayang for taking me out for supper. Tak sia2 belapar one day so I can taste this nasi lemak panas. Miss it soooo much!!!!

Mom's birthday celebration

Ever since I was very small, I remembered we will always have a double celebration for Mother's Day. Why? Cause my mom's birthday falls some where around Mother's Day.
This year was not exception. However, it was not a big celebration like before because my elder brother who is in Malacca couldn't make it and Iwan has to work late. Never mind, we shall have another celebration when everyone is around.
We brought mom to Swensen at Subang Parade. My dad is quite paranoid with this halal issue. Whenever we need to take him out for dinner, we have to do our research to ensure the place is halal place. Halal by definition with the halal certification. I know he meant well as he always reminds me if we ever consumed non-halal food, it will blackened our heart and later cause lots of harm to the body.

We ordered a little bit of everything in the menu. From pasta to pizza to salad and some snack like chicken wings and fried mushroom. Dad had fish and chips which he complained was not that tender and the crumb was too hard. Did I mention to you he was a chef hence he loves to criticised whenever we eat out.

The cuties love this place. I love this place too. The service is excellent and the food is simply delicious.

We wanted to order Earthquake but everyone was too full. But, what's a trip to Swensen without having the ice cream. So, I ordered the sticky chocolate ice cream, my favourite! Actually, that was the only food I had, did not want to have too much cause I have plan to have supper with my better half. Nak dating lah!

To mom, happy birthday and love you sooooo much. Thanks for everything that you have done and that definitely make me a better person. And Happy Mother's Day too!!

The kitchen helper

The cuties love to help me in the kitchen. Help making a mess that is. Last weekend they wanted to make their famous signature dish called Roti Huruf.
So, all the conspirators were in the kitchen sharp after Maghrib prayers. The ingredients...
Bread
Marjerin
Yup, such a short recipe right.
My hero acted as the head chef while my baby was the kitchen helper. My princess was appointed as the decorator.
Why roti huruf. After the bread was toasted on the hot pans, the decorator will then cut the middle of the bread with the letters based on the requestor wish.
I was there all the time watching them making a mess in my kitchen...After they are done, now it's mama's turn to clean....Sigh.......

Lamb Chop For Dinner

The cuties worked really hard on Sunday, they ran like they never ran before. So, we thought of cooking something special for dinner and we decided on lamb chop.
We bought this lamb at Cold Storage, Subang Parade. Once we got home, we marinated the lamb for about 3 hours before sending them to the oven.
We also made roasted potatoes and garlic bread. Garlic bread is very easy to make. Just mix butter with chopped garlic. That will taste much better than the one you buy at the store.
We love watching Channel 703 of Astro and then wanted to practise what we learnt hence we made our own gravy for the lamd chop by using the juice of the lamb and added some other ingredients.
The meals ready to be served. We also had some salads with the thousand island dressing.
Lamb chop is my hero's favourite food. He enjoyed it very much and even complimented this is better than the one we ate outside.
I love cooking, and when seeing my family enjoy eating what has been cooked, that makes all the effort worth while!

Forgive Mama

This week has been a very taxing week, as far as work is concern. I was very tight up with work to the extend I have to sacrificed some aspects in my life and some to the expense of my family. One of the things that the cuties need to condoned was not eating home cook last Thursday nite.

I had to continue with my work even after I reached home and that caused me not having the time to cook. My better half told me, it's ok....We can just tapau something for dinner. I was feeling very guilty but I really need to complete my work that nite. I felt so bad!!!

They had Nasi Goreng Ayam and bought me Sate. I only had 2 sticks as I need to get back to work after I prepared the food on the table.

The cuties were so nice for understanding my work commitment....They ate quietly and then did their homework.

I hope this won't happen again, and if it does, it won't be happening that often.

TV Dinner

Saturday nite has been officially made as a TV dinner nite, at least until the AF season is over. That has been a trend every year and this year is not an exception.

We will tapau food from pasar malam and then spread the newspaper in front of TV. When everything is ready, we will have our dinner right in front of the TV.

The choice of food tonite, yong tau foo, kebab, murtabak, kuih and rojak ; the normal typical pasar malam food.

While typing this, I am watching AF with my better half by myside and my princess lying in front of the TV. My hero and my baby are in the room playing with the computer, they are not into AF, they find it boring.
With all this blessings in my life, the continous rezeki given by Allah s.w.t and my loved ones with me, I am very grateful and should stop complaining. And when there are others who try to disturb my life, I would take it as they are just not happy with theirs and at the same time jealous of mine!
Have a good day to all!!!

Friday Nite Dinner - A&W KLCC

As usual, Friday nite is the eat out nite, just to close off a very hectic week, keeping up with the schedules, waking up very early in the morning and just getting on average 4-5 hours sleep every day(for me and my better half that is, for the cuties, we make sure they'll get at least 7-8 hours sleep daily).
This time we had to eat out at KLCC. I was working late and by the time the cuties and my better half reached KLCC around 7.15pm, I was still stuck in the office trying to finish up my work ASAP. I only get to leave the office around 8.30pm. I suggested to eat at Chillis but my better half don't really like the idea cause he knew we would have to wait to be seated and then more waiting for the food pulak.
We let the cuties to decided and unanimously they chose A&W simply because there's none around where we live now. They seems to miss A&W quite a lot.

We ordered quite a variety of food, Mozza Burger, Coney Dog, Fried Chicken, Cheese Burger and of course the Floats and Onion Rings, which is a sin if this are not ordered if you visit A&W.

It was indeed another good dinner, with good conversations with people I love the most. And that's what made any food taste very good!

Vacation @ Kuantan - The Carribean Night

The theme - Carribean Night.

And we have nothing to wear, at least nothing related to the theme...

It was my better half's idea to dress up that night. He felt it will be a good gesture to the organising team. To show we support their work and hence will go the extra mile to make the night success.

Many did not know this, we bought the clothes right after the telematch after having a short meeting with vagg at Pantai Balok and making our way back to the resort, we stopped by this batik boutique place and went around looking for the right clothing. And we decided to go all white and with green dash here and there. And the main objective, to have a good photo session after the event.
The food was nice, I love BBQ food.....So, I was eating like crazy, especially the lamb.

The entertainer that night, Aliff, was awesome. The cuties love them. I felt that was a great choice. And the MC was doing better than the first night. Kudos to them both!

As usual, we did not win anything during the lucky draw. Like we ever win anything...kan?

But, somehow, we won Famili Bersemangat, whatever that means. And winning that, we join the group of Pemenang Hadiah2 Hina, and had a warm welcome by the existing member of the group, Azrul and Fidah. Layak lah kan.

The night was fun...And marking the final night of our vacation. And Monday, back to reality...Hectic working and juggling family life all over again...And wondering, when will the next vacation be........
