Iftar Menu - Bubur Berlauk

Ramadhan really test your creativity. What to cook, how to present it and how to make it interesting for the cuties, Otherwise, masak bagai nak rak and no one wants to eat it.

One of the menus that we tried out was Bubur Berlauk, inspired by the one we had at Kg Bharu.

And the lauk we did were scrambled eggs, kangkung goreng belacan, ayam masak kunyit, hati masak cili and ikan bilis goreng.

The bubur is just plain bubur. Marvelous!!!

Minum pulak air tebu, mengancam!!!!

Iftar Menu - Rojak Manis

Caution, this entry may cause you to drool endlessly and perhaps some may even consider licking the monitor. Sabar yer, kan baru habis sahur....

As mentioned, the cuties dictate what we eat for iftar. One of the chosen menu is Rojak Manis. This is a recipe I learnt from my better half. Jangan main2, my better half is a good cook tau.

The rojak is slightly different from the normal rojak mamak. What's the recipe, sorry yer, it's a family secret. Kalau nak rasa, kami sedia menerima tempahan...sempat lagik promote tu...

This is one of the dishes that the cuties love to eat despite they are vegetables served with the dish.

There are menus which have yet to try. Stick around and you will see 30 different menus served, Insyallah.....

Iftar Menu - Mee Rebus

When it comes to Ramadhan, one of the difficulty we faced is to know what to prepare for Iftar. So this year, we have changed our MO. We let the cuties decide what they want ot have instead. They will prepare the list weekly so that it's easier for us to prepare the ingredients.

One of the items in the menu was Mee Rebus. I know they love this hence was not that surprise this was in the menu.

The condiments, consists of daun sup, green chillies and lime.

The gravy, panas menggelegak dalam kuali.

The cuties couldn't wait to get their hands on the mee rebus....Yummy....

So, esok iftar aper pulak yer...Tunggu!!!!

Terawih is now our routine

I love Ramadhan. I always waited for this particular one of the Islam calendar. There's a lot to do in Ramadhan, planning what to cook for Iftar, planning for Raya and many more. But the best part is able to perform Terawih prayers.

We always make sure we don't miss terawih prayers. It is very important to us considering this only happened in the month of Ramadhan. Last year, we don't really get to focus on terawih as we were still commuting from KJ to BSP. This year, alhamdulilah, was much smoother.

Another difference we planned this year is to perform terawih prayers at different mosque on weekends. Last nite was at Putrajaya Mosque, we planned to go to the new masjid besi next weekend. Will blog about our experience at Putrajaya Mosque later.

The cuties love it too. Alhamdulilah, now they are much older and easier to manage. I remember back in 2007 when my baby was only 6, I have to make sure I sit at the corner with sufficient place for her to sleep.

I am hoping for Ramadhan to pass very slowly. And when it finally does.....I will surely look forward to the next Ramadhan.

Pre-Sahur - Ayer Keroh R&R

It has been a tradition ever since we got married, we will celebrate the 1st Ramadhan at my better half's kampung. This year is no exception. I have no complain on this since the sambutan Ramadhan there is usually more meriah than here in KL.

We left the house at around 9.30pm, we did not want to miss the first terawih so we left after that.

My baby was very tired and she slept on the way to kampung. However, we have to make one quick stop at R&R Ayer Keroh because my hero was hungry and my better half needed his coffee fix.

I only had roti bakar while the rest ate quite heavy food. I know we will have sahur later with my in laws so, keeping some space for that.

My baby was so tired she had to be carried to the car. Imagine dah darjah 2 pun nak dokong lagik.

One thing I need to share ; we all balik kg really in a gambling situation, our roadtax dah mati and it has been renewed, but the stupid agent did not deliver the roadtax and insurance on Friday afternoon as promised. What pissed me off, she did not even answer the phone. But, since we are confident it has been renewed(after research via the insurance helpline and JPJ) we decided to just go ahead. Kalau kena tahan, cakap jer lah, dah renew Tok, but ada orang bodoh lupa nak hantar...

Rumah Titian Kasih

During lunch time today, we went to Rumah Titian Kasih behind Istana Budaya. We have been frequenting this house not only to give some donations but also during Raya times to purchase Raya goodies there.

This house about 85 occupants which consists of orphans, single mothers, handicapped and senior citizens. Most of them were abandoned by their families;some even abused. The first time I went there back in 2003 and the house was in a terrible condition.

When I go there, I always meet up with Mak Pah, the care taker of the house. She is such a pleasant lady and very strong indeed. She is a single mother herself and has been taking care of all the occupants in the house.

Too bad we didn't get to meet her today, she has just left for umrah earlier in the morning. I am so happy to hear this, she totally deserved this trip after all her effort and hard work!

She is also a very creative entrepreneur. I remembered she told me that she do not want to see the single mothers keep on living with charity. They must learn to earn their living, in a correct manner of course. That's when she came up with the kuih idea and selling buku agama.Now, she has another business idea. They are now doing babysitting jobs.

Nope, this cute baby is not an orphan. This is one of the baby that they take care off.

Accident ler pulok!

On the back home yesterday, we saw an accident, and it involved us!

While driving through Jalan Sungai Besi, we were minding our own business when suddenly a loud bang came from the back of our car. Bang! And we can feel, something hit us.

My better half stopped the car while I looked back and saw a man on a motorbike fell on the road. Alhamdulilah, the car after us managed to hit the break. Kalau tau, ada yang tak raya.

Not to obstruct the traffic, we moved the car to the side to talked to the motobike person. He was not injured - at least, not as we see it.

I can see my better half was really pissed. We can see he worked for a courier company and from the way we see it, he must be late in delivering a parcel which was still in the basket of the bike.

We took down his full name, IC number and contact number. He agreed that he will compensate for the damage, however, if it exceed RM300, we agreed to make a police report for us to claim from his insurance. Alhamdulilah again, it will only cost around RM200. Save us the trouble going through all the paper work.

And the final Alhamdulilah for us to be able to arrived home just in time for berbuka....with a story to tell to my parents and the cuties of course.

The beauty of Ramadhan

One special thing about Ramadhan that you will not find in other months will be the terawih. We always look forward to this.

This will be the fourth year we are performing terawih together. At least for all of us except for baby. The last 3 years, whenever I went for terawih, I have to choose a very strategic location. Some corner lot because while I'm praying, my baby will be sleeping next to me.

This year, my baby will be joining us. And she is very excited about it. Her nenek gave her a new set of telekung, and my princess also got another one.

Hopefully we'll be able to attend as many terawih session as we can. And hopefully in future, we are able to perform this at home...

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan Al-Mubarak

Selamat menyambut Ramadhan Al-Mubarak. Semoga kita semua terus dilimpahkan rezeki dari Allah s.w.t.

Semoga kita akan dapat menghayati Ramadhan dengan amal ibadah, Ramadhan adalah bulan yang sangat unik untuk mengumpul sebanyak pahala yang mungkin.

Sorry no update yet on the house. Still work in progress. We went back for one nite to Batu Pahat yesterday and just arrived at BSP.
Will try to do this as soon as I can.

Gotta go now, looking for the rice cooker in one of the boxes. In few hours kan nak sahur :)....

Orang tak keje ke hari nie?

It's so weird this morning, org tak keje ke or I am early. I arrived at the lrt station at 7.05 and lengang giler. Even as the lrt moved and stopped and Asia Jaya, still ada seat. Imagine that! Usually sampai Asia Jaya, people will be fighting to get in, nak dapat tempat duduk tu, jgn harap ler. So, for the first time, I feel so comfortable riding to work while reading my newspaper. And I felt it was the shortest jouney I had to work. And another weird thing, the cuties bangun tidur without me feeling so stressed out!

Did I mention how much I love Ramadhan? It has always been a good month to be motivated to go back early as I will make sure I cook for the buka puasa. It is also a good month to spend quality time with the cuties and my better half, makan sama, solat maghrib sama and sahur sama. The Cuties are growing up and soon they will leave home and have their own lives. My only wish is for them to cherish the time we spent together and they will always remember that and make it a point to come back.
Smalam, we went to Rumah Titian Kasih to buy some muruku with GTL and money matters. Their muruku has always been my favourite and that is rather strange because I don't usually eat muruku. Tapi, bila nak dekat raya je, I will make it a point to go there and get those yummy muruku. Tak tau ler cukup tak until raya. Takpe, boleh gi lagik and refill...Balik tumpang William Hung and info counter. Dapat gak akak menggunakan they all untuk kepentingan peribadi to carry the PC that I won during my company PC bidding exercise. Tapi jem ya amat. Sampai rumah cukup2 time

This weekend, we will going back to Batu Pahat again. We plan to give mak and abah buka puasa treat at the only 5 star hotel in Batu Pahat. I know the mufti said it is not good to buka puasa at hotels but I just want to make my in laws happy and have the experience. Takde niat nak menunjuk or what not!

Anyway, selamat berpuasa and semoga Ramadhan kali ini membawa seribu keberkatan kepada kita semua, Insyaallah!
