Adik's engagement

Adik's engagement was held last Saturday. I tell you it was a grand event, macam kenduri kahwin. Yelah, Adik is the youngest and the last one for us to have such ceremony. Hence, that explains the kebesaran of the majlis.

It was held penuh adat istiadat. Complete with pantun and seloka melayu by the experts in the subject matter.

The hantaran pink vs blue, pink is ourside of course.

The girls love the way their Cik Cu looked. Very pretty they said. I was about to drop some tears looking at Adik, how she has grown up to be a lovely woman. The first time I met her, she was still in her primary school and now ready to be married.

Of course, me and my better half shared her happiness....

Insyallah Adik, Abg Man dgn K Liza doakan Adik bahagia selalu dan jodoh kekal selamanya!

Hari Raya 2009 - The Snapshots of theme colour

It's a norm for us to have 2 colour theme for each Raya. Once for the first day and another one for the second day. We would usually let the cuties decide what colour they would want as the theme and this year they had chosen green and pink.

I love how all the baju raya turn out. Love the colour combination our family had, similar yet with distinctive difference.
Hope it's not too late to wish Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Batin!

Pre-Sahur - Ayer Keroh R&R

It has been a tradition ever since we got married, we will celebrate the 1st Ramadhan at my better half's kampung. This year is no exception. I have no complain on this since the sambutan Ramadhan there is usually more meriah than here in KL.
We left the house at around 9.30pm, we did not want to miss the first terawih so we left after that.
My baby was very tired and she slept on the way to kampung. However, we have to make one quick stop at R&R Ayer Keroh because my hero was hungry and my better half needed his coffee fix.
I only had roti bakar while the rest ate quite heavy food. I know we will have sahur later with my in laws so, keeping some space for that.
My baby was so tired she had to be carried to the car. Imagine dah darjah 2 pun nak dokong lagik.
One thing I need to share ; we all balik kg really in a gambling situation, our roadtax dah mati and it has been renewed, but the stupid agent did not deliver the roadtax and insurance on Friday afternoon as promised. What pissed me off, she did not even answer the phone. But, since we are confident it has been renewed(after research via the insurance helpline and JPJ) we decided to just go ahead. Kalau kena tahan, cakap jer lah, dah renew Tok, but ada orang bodoh lupa nak hantar...

Sabar Liza, discount nanti pahala puasa

Happy Mother's Day Mak!

We know we won't get to celebrate Mother's Day with Mak on the day itself. We have to celebrate it that weekend itself. So, we bought a cake and some pizza for that purpose.
Most of the cake shops were closed in Parit Raja. There was only one shop opened and they are out of Mother's Day cake, hence we just bought whatever available. They don't have a cake where you can write Happy Mother's Day on it, we ended up putting the Happy Birthday sign instead. Takpe ler, asal ada kan?
Started with doa recital, baru lah berkat.
This kind of ceremony, of course the kids would be the most excited ones! My cuties and nephew were crowding the cake and food from the beginning. Macam ler nak celebrate childrens' day kan?
Mak being Mak, would not allow us to serve. She was the one serving us instead. She insisted to do that and gave reason cause we have bought the food...Mak...Mak...
If I haven't told you, my mom in-law aka Mak, is a great lady. She loves me unconditionally and she treats me like her own daughter, not like a menantu. Whenever we balik kg, she will insist for no one to disturb me and let me wake up late. She told them, I have been taking care of her son and her grandchildren and also working at the same time. She reiterated many times I need to have a break as well, so when I am in her house, she will pamper me and would not allow me to help her in the kitchen. Mak is a great lady and I know she worked hard raising all her 5 kids. I am so lucky I have 2 great mothers in my life ; my own mom and my mom in-law.
But, I feel sad.....when her own children(ada ler sorang dua) don't know how to appreciate Mak. They don't know how lucky they are....Jangan bila mak dah takde, baru nak terhegeh2 menangis meraung panggil Mak macam dalam drama tu...

The balik kg trip

During Labour Day, we had our balik kg trip to Batu Pahat. It's been quite some time since we went back to my better half's home town. I think the last time was before our trip to Kelantan. Safe to say that was 2 months ago. And I miss Mak already!!!

As usual, if we go back to Batu Pahat, it's a must to have breakfast at Sri Ganding where the lontong is to die for! Here, the lontong offers side dishes as well like sotong, ayam goreng and many more.

The cuties also love the lontong here. They ordered lontong with telur goreng. As for the side dishes we had sotong and ayam goreng. Memang terangkat!

While typing this, I miss the lontong already!!! Bila nak balik kg lagik nie!!

Wedding season has begun

First and foremost, I would like to start this entry with a Selamat Pengantin Baru to one of my blogger sister, vagg. She got married last week and we planned to drop by just to visit as well as to give her the wedding gift(plus the contest gift that she won earlier) later this week. I don't think I am the right one to give advise since my marriage life still has a long way to go, but from a sister to another sister...Marriage life is very different from dating or courting life. When you finally live with each other, you can see the whole side of your loved one. Be patient and practise give and take and practice it alot. Insyallah, you will do just fine and my prayers will always be with you.

The school holidays has started last Friday and of course like every other school holidays, it will also mean the start of the wedding season. While we were at Batu Pahat, my in-laws told us there are 5 wedding invites that they wanted us to attend with them. 5 in one day!!! Haiyo!!! Dielah!!!
As usual, similarities in wedding we attended :

The buffet line

The door gift

The karaoke session
And my favourite, the beautiful pelamin though this time around the pelamin was biasa2 saje
Nope, we did not go to all 5, we went only to 3 and my in-laws continued to house no 4 and 5 without us. As much as I love going to weddings, this will be a real test on my diet. First house, one scoop of rice with ayam masak merah, daging dalca and acar, House no 2, fried chicken and some grvy with no rice, House No 3, just a cup of drink....

Kalau tak kuat iman, hancus diet ku!!!

Lontong @ Seri Gading

We went back to Batu Pahat over the weekend. I did not get to snap any pics on the way back to kampung as I was still very exhausted and slept all the way. I was also just lazing around in my in-laws house after we arrived on Saturday, watching AF that nite(though I vote was for the MU vs Liverpool match but majority won) and just talking with the family.

I only started to go out on Sunday, breakfast at my usual fave spot in Sri Gading. Makan apa lagi, lontong sotong with telur mata. Simply delicious!
And the cuties have also adapted to my fave food. They ordered the same food this round. Usually, they would go fot nasi lemak or mee hoon goreng. I guess they got tempted seeing the way I ate this, gelojoh sungguh!

And it was indeed a good weekend. And with Liverpool screwing MU 4-1, makes it one of the best weekend...

@ Batu Pahat

We are still @ Batu Pahat and expected to return to BSP later today.
So far, we've been to 3 weddings and have another 2 to attend today. We have also celebrated my mom in law's and Adik's birthday. All presents have been bought and given.
Managed to eat the best lontong I've tasted so far at Sri Gading and also hang out with the cuties, Adik and my nephew @ Parit Raja.
The only spoiler to this so far a wonderful long weekend is the internet line. It just refused to allow for pictures to be in the entries...Been trying since yesterday and even this morning, without success. TERUK BETUL!!!!
Anyway, once we are back @ BSP, will try to upload.

Hope your long weekend is as wonderful as mine.

Well, at least i tried....

I was trying to do some entries today after completing the laundries and doing some house cleaning. I prepared breakfast and then do some chores. Once all that settled, thought of just doing some updates...

But, the home internet line is killing. I can't even get into the network. Hence, only get to update via berry.

Anyway, we will be away for this CNY holidays. Going back to Batu Pahat mainly to celebrate Adik's and my mom in law's birthday. Also, to persuade my dad in law's to go to the hospital for his check up. My better half works on Saturdays and now we are waiting for him to come back for us to start our journey. Hopefully, the traffic will be kind to us. We plan to us the trunk road rather than the highway.

To all my Chinese friends and readers, Gong Xi Fatt Chai. And to all, have a good holiday! I'm sure I will!!!

Lauk kenduri

We went back to Batu Pahat over the weekend. Main reason, there's a kenduri organise by my biras that requires our attendance. Actually, I love going to kenduri at my better half's kampung. Not only the scenario is very the meriah, also the food is usually good!!! This is subject to who is the relatives that's invited us. Kalau the kepoh2 one, I will try my best to make excuses not to go...malas lah, asik kena laser and tak leh jawab balik...
Anyway, this kenduri was awsome. The cuties also has loads of fun. They get to run hear and there, have loads of friends around their age, of course they do enjoy the good food...
Takde sape ke nak ajak akak datang kenduri nie....

Raya@Kg Api2

If we celebrate Raya @ KJ, we will surely go back to Kg Api2 near Kuala Selangor to visit Wan. Wan stays here with my 2 aunties, Achik Edah and Embo Eton(the twin of Arwah Embo Enab who passed away earlier this year). Kg Api2 is not that far from KJ. About 45 minutes drive depending on the traffic.
Here, Raya is not complete if we don't have a feast with Rendang Kerang. Rendang Kerang made by Arwah Embo Enab and Embo Eton is the best that I have ever tasted. Here, I have the appetite to eat, but still in control mode. Sampai Wan heran why I did not go for second serving like the usual. Jaga badan Wan, nak slim macam Wan.
And I get to see most of my uncles and aunties here. FYI, my dad has 18, yup eighteen sibblings given birth by my Wan. Out of the 18, are 4 pairs of twins and one of the the twin are my dad. Howeverm I think, only 10 still alive...Ramai sgt, that I lost count.
Wan looks better than the last time I saw her about a month ago. She can sit and able to talk and interact with us. That's good news.
Perut dah kenyang, we headed back to BSP. I need to start packing for our trip back to Batu Pahat...

Suasana Kampung

I am so glad I married someone with kampung...very glad indeed. At least, during the festive season, we have a destination that we can head to.
I love it when we go back to my better half's hometown. His kampung is still kampung, not the developed kampung and I love it that way.
My hero always like to go to this small parit where he loves to look at the fishes there. The water is very clear. Sometimes he does some fishing with my better half and his Pak Ngah.
Yes, I wear kain batik at kampung. It was difficult at first, but my mom-in law patiently tought me how to wear this. Bak kata pepatah, masuk kandang kambing mengembek, masuk kampung, tak reti2 pakai kain...
This is my in-laws sundry shop adjacent to the house. This is how my in-laws brought up all the 5 kids. It was smaller before and alhamdulilah it has expanded. Now, my brother in law took over the business.
I love spending my time at this kampung...so green and so cooling......best kan ada kampung!

External Sahur....

Last weekend, we had planned to make a trip back to Batu Pahat, apart from visiting my in-laws, we also need to collect the kerepek that was ordered for this coming Raya.
We didn't want to travel when the weather is hot, so, we decided to start the trip right after sahur. My better half told me not to cook and let's just have sahur outside so that I don't have to clean the kitchen after that. I think he noticed I became a kitchen cleaning freak, yelah kan, kitchen baru, semua akak sental tau!
Considering within the vincinity of our house, there are few universities, hence food supply during the sahur hour was not a problem. Many of the food outlets were opened to cater for the students there.
Kesian my baby, she slept while waiting for the food to arrive, while my princess was chatting away with my better half and my hero was watching football on TV.
We had nasi goreng with telur mata. We ordered only 2 plates, we saw the portion given to the person next to our table...memang banyak giler!
The time was 5.37am when we passed the toll on our way to Batu Pahat. Balik kampung!!!!!!! Bestnyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Balik kampung!!!

It has been a tradition in our family to celebrate first day of Ramadhan in Batu Pahat. Though we were still very tired with the moving exercise, we still kuatkan diri and made our way back to my better half's hometown.
Before that, we took my hero for a haircut at this place call Serambi Mekah. I was told they have few branches in Bangi. It was raining so me and the girls waited in the car while waiting for the guys to have their look further improve.
The rain was about to stop when we left the house. Ya Allah, punyer lah jem!! This photo was taken right after we drove pass the Putra Mahkota toll booth. The jem continued till Alor Gajah. We arrived at Parit Raja around 10pm and we were starving. My better half suggested for us to stop for dinner and he wanted to revisit Bisik-Bisik. Caption of my hero and my baby doing their bisik2 act...Based on our previous experience, it was not that bad and I personally look forward to have the lamb chop again.
My princess ordered spaghetti meatball. She said it was really good and she finished the whole plate by herself.
My hero and my baby shared the chicken chop. I had a small bit of this and it was not too bad.
However, I was dissapointed with the lamb chop. The portion was much smaller compared to our first visit and even the side dish has changed. Haven't this people heard of consistancy. The taste was out...nasib baik order just one, my better half and I wanted to share this.
Apa lagik...dah dissapointed, sampai rumah mak carik nasikle gamaknyer...

080808

What's the reason for this entry....
While we were driving to KL from our balik kg trip, we saw about 20 expensive and posh cars with Singapore plate number.
Ada lamboghini, ferrari and some other type of cars yang I pun tak tau the name.
Just like the 080808 which is expensive number, these cars are expensive too...
Tak dapat naik, tengok pun jadik ler...
