And this is why they should ban karaoke during wedding.

I promised I share something from this wedding.

Here goes.

Ya Ampun...Hazab bang!!!!

Tapi yang penting feel yer...

Hahaha....

And now I don't really envy Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and other reality show selection panel. Bernanah telinga and imagine hundreds of people with similar "talent".

Another wedding to attend

Last weekend was definitely a tiring weekend. It's been quite sometime my weekends are filled with fun activities. Usually, it's either I have to work or just stay at home while makan tidur makan tidur.
On Sunday, we went to this wedding in Gombak Setia. I was asking Minah nie for direction to the place, and can you imagine she replied "Gombak Setia tu kat Gombak ler kak, duh!". Ada ka patut. Amboi ko dik, tekena akak.
Anyway, this was the wedding of my better half's nephew. The theme was white and purple. That can be reflected with the dining table, pelamin and the hantaran.

What make the wedding unique was both the bride and groom are neighbours. So, they just did one reception. The makan place was divided into 2 ; one for the groom side(that's our side) and the other the bride's side.
We had to leave early, expecting someone to come to our house. Tak sempat nak menatap wajah pengantin.
And something I wish to share about an incident during the wedding. Tapi, nantilah. Tunggu next entry ya!

p/s : baru perasan, takde ambik gambo org pun, smua gambo the wedding stuff. Camne lah boleh jadik camni

Wedding we went...

Despite the craziness and the hecticness life has been, we still got the chance to go to a wedding of my workmate. The location was in Mantin, not so far from BSP.
It was on Saturday, hence have to wait for my better half to come back from work before we can make our way to the venue. By the time we arrived, it was nearly 2pm and since I did not cook lunch, all of us were starving!
Saw some of familiar faces there, but, since I was so hungry and so were the cuties, we went straight to the buffet spread. My better half was not feeling so well, macam feverish skit so was not really into eating.
The bride, Alia, looking so beautiful and glowing.
We were supposed to attend another wedding the night after but my better half was really not up to it, he was really down with fever. Sorry Kamal, will pass your gift later...
Sape lak kawin this weekend....best gak dapat makan nasi kenduri.

Wedding season is back again

When the school holidays start, officially it will also be the start of wedding season. This time around is no exceptions. We have started receiving wedding invites since early May and will try to make sure we don't miss any of them. Not only because we don't want to dissapoint the host, but the fact that I love going to weddings and looking at the concepts and decorations which may be useful should one day I get to pursue my dream to have my own event management company...Brangan lagik Liza nie...

The first wedding of the season was the one hosted by our next lane neighbour. It was done a day after our kenduri cum birthday party. The concept chosen was white and purple.
We arrived quite late cause we were exhausted with all the cleaning we have to do. We arrived around 3pm despite the house is just few steps away from ours.

The cuties were not really in the mood for rice and lauk kenduri so they just had very little of this. I was sharing the same sentiment as the cuties, but it will be rude not to have any, so jamah ler skit.
The favours were very unique, unlike the typical eggs, cakes or sweet, we received prayers book with tasbih in the cute little box.
We did not stay that long. The most was 30 minutes. It was so hot and I swear I heard my bed calling me ;).....

The wedding - Making parents happy

It was Mother's Day and I think it is mandatory for me to make my mom happy especially on Mother's Day. She wanted to go to this wedding in Keramat and from the tone of her vioce plus the way my dad was asking for direction to that place, it's pretty clear they wanted me to take them there.

My mom came over to our house after her kelas mengaji and we told her let's attend the kenduri at our front door neighbour first before we proceed to Keramat and my parents agreed to that. Takkan jiran depan rumah kenduri anak bertunang and have invited us about 3 weeks ago, kitaorang buat selamba jer keluar rumah. Sunggu tak reti bermasyarakat kan.

Keramat is never our territory so we asked for directions from Tipah as that area is totally her area. Alhamdulilah, reached the place without getting lost even for a second. That's a major achievement.

This wedding was the wedding of my mom's cousin's daughter, whom she have not seen for ages. Both of them were in tears when they saw each other. My mom told me they have been through many difficulties in life together including the death of her other daughter due to cancer. How tragic!
It felt so good making my mom happy, that would just be a priceless gift.

Wedding season has begun

First and foremost, I would like to start this entry with a Selamat Pengantin Baru to one of my blogger sister, vagg. She got married last week and we planned to drop by just to visit as well as to give her the wedding gift(plus the contest gift that she won earlier) later this week. I don't think I am the right one to give advise since my marriage life still has a long way to go, but from a sister to another sister...Marriage life is very different from dating or courting life. When you finally live with each other, you can see the whole side of your loved one. Be patient and practise give and take and practice it alot. Insyallah, you will do just fine and my prayers will always be with you.

The school holidays has started last Friday and of course like every other school holidays, it will also mean the start of the wedding season. While we were at Batu Pahat, my in-laws told us there are 5 wedding invites that they wanted us to attend with them. 5 in one day!!! Haiyo!!! Dielah!!!
As usual, similarities in wedding we attended :

The buffet line

The door gift

The karaoke session
And my favourite, the beautiful pelamin though this time around the pelamin was biasa2 saje
Nope, we did not go to all 5, we went only to 3 and my in-laws continued to house no 4 and 5 without us. As much as I love going to weddings, this will be a real test on my diet. First house, one scoop of rice with ayam masak merah, daging dalca and acar, House no 2, fried chicken and some grvy with no rice, House No 3, just a cup of drink....

Kalau tak kuat iman, hancus diet ku!!!

Wedding @ Concorde

This was the second time us attending wedding at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam. This time it's the wedding of my better half's colleague. We got invited back in January and we nearly got the date wrong. We thought it was supposed to be on the 8th of Feb, it was actually 8th March. Nasib baik we took a second look on the card. Kalau tak, ada yang terpegi org lain punyer wedding.
The card, nicely done.
The theme looked like a garden wedding. The pelamin was nicely done, the bride and groom looked like they were sitting on a swing.

The theme colour, unlike the card, was white and green. Usually, the card would represent the wedding theme colour. Perhaps the host wanted to be different.

One point that I wish to highlight. I guess Concorde Hotel has some what one similar way to conduct a wedding. There were some differences but, most of the steps were quite similar.

During dinner, we were entertained with some entertainment, some singing. One of the singers, were the uncle of the bride, Prof Khairil Johari Johar, the singer of the famous Raya song, Sepasang Kurung Biru.

The door gift. Not bad!

The cake cutting ceremony, bertingkat2 cake nyer yer...

The happy bride and groom.

Now, lastly the happy pengantin tua!!
On another unrelated event, I don't understand how a friend can steal a friend's boyfriend and be cool with it. Entahlah, maybe, I just don't understand or refuse to understand...

Wedding @ Balakong

My parents did not stay for long at my house, they have few weddings to attend. We have 2 weddings to attend today. The first one is at Balakong. This wedding is my better half's colleague wedding.

The theme is maroon and white. When we arrived, there were already a lot of people there. We have to wait before we get seats to enjoy our meal. Since it's lunch hour, we were starving.
Once we get places to eat, my better half and I took the food for the cuties. The food has some variety, lauk suitable for nasi beriani and lauk suitable for nasi putih.
Before the bride and groom were escorted to the pelamin, there was a silat presentation held. But, it was a scary silat presentation. I thought silat pulut or silat pengantin is more appropriate but this presentation was like the silat lawan2 nak bunuh orang. Haiyo, this can be considered as a warning for the groom not to mempesiakan the bride ke?
We did not wait for the bersanding ceremony as the weather was getting hotter. We left right after the silat presentation.
We (at least I) love going to weddings over the weekend...because........................................................
TAK PAYAH MASAK!!!

A green wedding

I declared last weekend another wedding weekend. Why? We were invited to 4 weddings but decided to go to only 3 since the third one memang betul2 tak sempat. On Saturday, we headed to Taman Muda, in Pandan Indah for the first wedding
This wedding is quite special as it is also the reunion for me and my ex-colleagues from Maxis. I used to work there for nearly 4 years right after I completed my studies. We haven't seen each other for quite some time. Infact, for nearly 9 years.
The traffic that day was not kind to us. It was quite bad and we were stuck at MRR 2 for nearly an hour. Perut dah ler lapaq!

At last, we arrived at the venue. The weather was nice and warm. The theme for the wedding is white and green, looks like going back to nature with all the potted plants hanging at the corners for the canopies.

The arch, the cuties loved this.

The cuties with the bride, my ex-colleagues.

One down, 2 more wedding to go tomorrow.

Dah dapat dah

I think for those who frequents vagg's blog would know she is going to be married in less than 2 weeks time...

And I am so honoured to get this beautiful card from her.

I wanted so bad to attend the wedding and witness the happiest day of her life but really couldn't make it...

Can I visit you on the 20th instead as I will be coming from Kota Bharu. Itu pun if you haven't left for your honeymoon ;)..

Akak doakan semuanyer berjalan lancar dan bahagia hingga ke anak cucu!

Wedding (again?)

Nope, don't worry, this is not the continuation of last week's wedding extravaganza back in my better half's hometown. This wedding was held yesterday in KL, at the Dewan Toh Puan Raha, in the Yayasan Tun Razak's building located near Bukit Bintang area. (wah, so detail one, better provide map skalik kan?)
This was the wedding the daughter of one our neigbours. We thought again, it will be kind of rude for us not to attend, they have attended the kenduri we organised earlier. Otherwise, we don't actually love going to KL during the weekends. Yelah, every day dah gi KL so weekends are better spend at home.
The theme was maroon. Everything was in maroon even the drinks. The door gift, one type for adult and the other for children.
The food served. They had 2 types ; one the typical nasi minyak and lauk pauk, another type the grilled lamb with salad. Sedap!
I love the pelamin, very nicely decorated. They even have live band. If I'm not mistaken, the members were sibblings and cousins. Cool!
The cuties enjoyed the food. Jangan terperanjat, my baby is a big fan of grilled lamb. She finished the whole plate!
We wanted to go else where after the wedding but the cuties were fighting in the car and despite us asking them to stop, they did not listen so as we told them, let's go straight home since they just cannot behave themselves. All3 merajuk sampai tertidur...
Tulah, saper suruh gaduh!

Similarities in Johor weddings

Based on my personal observations, there are few similarities in Johor weddings that I have attended so far:
1. The entertainment

Karaoke is mandatory. No wedding can happen without karaoke. Be it whether the singer sings out of tune or just simply tone deaf, the karaoke will still go on and on and on.....
2. Lucky draws
Yup, got lucky draw one. This is for the helpers aka penanggah. The draw will be done at the end of the wedding after all the dishes and pots and pans have been washed. In a way, as a motivating factor for the helpers to stay until the end of the wedding
3. The penanggah ladies.
I think every kampung will have this group of ladies helping out to clear the tables, to give the goodie bags and other related stuff. They will be dressing in this identical baju kurung which normally will be according to the wedding colour theme. I find that pretty cool!
4. Bubur
All weddings, apart from the normal nasi beriani set, they will also have the bubur, usually bubur pulut hitam or bubur kacang.
5. Kuih on the table
This is usually given by the orang kampung as part of the token for the tuan rumah. This will then be placed on the tables for the attendees.
Unique right? Something different from the typical wedding we attend here in the city.

Wedding hopping with the in-laws - Day Two

We survived Day One of the wedding hopping, now let see whether we'll make it for the Day 2.

This time, the wedding is quite a distance from my in-laws house. About one hour drive. Located at Labis, this place is called Felda Moakil. The journey was smooth. Not much traffic heading towards direction.
This family is relative to my dad in-law. The wife is his cousin. Previously, the family stayed at my dad in-laws kampung until the family was offered some land to be developed under Felda and has been residing here. Apparently, lots of the villagers also received the same offers in various locations in Malaysia as far as Pahang. My dad in-law also had the offer but declined as he already have a business, the mini market at that time.
The concept for this wedding was gold and white. The whole wedding was so beautiful and you can see was really well prepared.
Ingat Mawi je kawin ada sponsor, the mineral water for the wedding was also by this company. Siap ada Chef Wan lagik.
I love the bunga telur. The choice of colours were so meriah and very bright.
We did not stay for long. My better half wanted to leave early, wanted to avoid the traffic for our journey home to BSP.
Nasib baik just one wedding. The other one, we did not follow. Otherwise, memang tak larat tau.
